Rosé de Saignée 2020
The Champagne Rosé de Saignée by Malot Villière comes from the vineyards of Verzy, one of the most iconic Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims, where Pinot Noir finds one of its deepest and most identity-driven expressions. The artisanal work of the Domaine focuses on enhancing the chalky and clay-limestone soils, elements that give the wine tension, mineral precision, and energy.
This edition, Millésime 2000, is obtained from 100% Pinot Noir vinified according to the Rosé de Saignée method. The maceration on the skins allows for the extraction of color and structure while maintaining integrity and finesse. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats, while after tirage the wine ages on the lees for a minimum of 36 months. The disgorgement is carried out without final dosage, defining a pure and direct Brut Nature style that transparently conveys the character of the grape variety and its Grand Cru terroir.
On tasting, this Rosé de Saignée presents an intense and bright pink color. On the nose emerge notes of small red fruits, pomegranate, redcurrant, and a delicate floral component. On the palate it offers a balance between freshness and structure, with a fine texture and a mineral tension that accompanies a long, clean, and incisive finish. An authentic cuvée, with strong territorial identity and great elegance.
