Champagne RĂ©my Lequeux-Mercier
L'Homme Blanc
The Champagne “L’Homme Blanc” by Rémy Lequeux-Mercier is a Blanc de Noirs cuvée of rare territorial precision, a sincere expression of the eponymous Lieu-dit located in Passy-sur-Marne, on the right bank of the Vallée de la Marne. The plot, planted in 1991 and 1992, lies between river and forest, on a southwest-facing slope: here, the clay-limestone soil on sand and the vitality of the land help shape a truly authentic and vibrant viticultural identity.
Made from 100% Meunier harvested in 2021, the wine is entirely vinified and aged in fût de chêne, using only indigenous yeasts and without filtration. After a prolonged ageing of over 36 months on the lees, the cuvée is released as an Extra Brut (1.4 g/l), with a moderate use of sulphites (total SO₂: 29 mg/l), in keeping with the artisan and respectful philosophy of the Vigneron.
On the palate, “L’Homme Blanc” stands out for its precise and vibrant profile: the broad structure of the Meunier combines with a marked mineral tension, offering an elegant balance between fruit maturity and expressive clarity. A characterful cuvée, crafted in a limited edition of only 1,410 bottles, that authentically conveys the breath of its terroir.
