Champagne Pol Roger
Vintage Jéroboam 2018
The Champagne Vintage 2018 by Pol Roger is born as an identity-driven expression of the finest Grands and Premiers Crus of the Montagne de Reims and of the Côte des Blancs, territories in which Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reach balance, purity and structure. The cuvée follows the traditional blend of the Maison — 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay coming from 20 crus of great prestige — and reflects the classic style of Pol Roger: precision, harmony and marked ageing potential. Produced in limited quantities, the 2018 edition
This Millésime 2018 edition restores with precision the imprint of its vintage, characterised by a pronounced aromatic freshness, by the maturity of the fruit and by a taut and perfectly defined structure. Vinification is conducted in stainless steel at low temperature, with complete malolactic fermentation to give roundness, balance and stylistic coherence to the cuvée. After the tirage, the wine continues its long ageing in the historic cellars of the Maison, situated 33 metres deep, where it rests for a minimum of 5 years before disgorgement. A further stay in the cellar completes the overall harmony, enriching the cuvée with balance, finesse and a perfectly measured maturity.
In tasting, the Vintage 2018 shows a crystalline pale yellow colour, accompanied by an extremely fine, elegant and persistent effervescence. The nose opens discreetly, gradually revealing fresh fruit, exotic nuances — in particular pineapple — and white peach, with a very delicate evolution. With oxygenation, notes of fresh butter and pastry cream emerge, which add depth and softness. On the palate the wine shows roundness and volume, supported by a lively aromatic freshness. In continuity with the nose, the pastry notes give character and complexity. The finish is slightly citrus, with nuances initially of lemon that then broaden into a wider range of citrus fruits, leaving a refined sensation of freshness and foreshadowing a notable ageing potential.
