The Champagne Rich by Pol Roger is an identity-driven interpretation of the softer and more gourmand side of Champagne, conceived to enhance the three historic grape varieties of the region in a harmonious and refined composition. Launched in 2001, it interprets a profile halfway between sec and demi-sec, where the balance between sugar and natural acidity defines an elegant, versatile style perfectly aligned with the tradition of the Maison. The blend, built in equal parts of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay coming from 30 crus, is enriched by 25% of vin de réserve, giving structure, freshness and a measured aromatic complexity.

Vinification follows a rigorous technical approach: gentle pressing, separate fermentations for each grape variety and cru in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full to define roundness and stylistic coherence. After tirage, the wine ages for at least 4 years in the cellars of the Maison, located 33 metres deep; the final dosage, set at 34 g/l in Demi-Sec style, gives the cuvée its characteristic balanced sweetness. A further period of rest completes the internal harmony of the wine, refining its expressive precision.

In tasting, Rich shows a deep yellow-gold colour with coppery reflections, supported by a creamy and continuous effervescence. On the nose it is broad and elegant, combining dried fruit, floral notes, boisés nuances and a discreet vegetal hint; sweet spices and more sugary accents then appear. On the palate the entry is broad, rich and enveloping, with a liveliness that enhances juicy fruity nuances and a range of soft and seductive spicy aromas. The sweetness, well present but perfectly integrated, supports the persistence and merges with notes of blond caramel that accompany a surprisingly long and remarkably fresh finish.
