The Champagne Monochrome #7 by Paul Launois is a Blanc de Blancs of rare finesse, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Grand Cru vineyards of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most iconic villages in the Côte des Blancs. This area, renowned for its chalky and mineral-rich soils, gives the wine a distinctive territorial identity. The cuvée is composed of 73% from the 2021 harvest and 27% vin de réserve, ensuring balance and stylistic continuity. Fermentation takes place mostly in stainless steel tanks (84%), with 16% aged in fût de chêne, which enhances the aromatic complexity without compromising purity.

A 24-month lees aging and a low dosage of 1 g/l (Extra Brut) help preserve a crystalline freshness, supported by a vibrant and refined salinity. This minimalist technical approach, focused on expressive transparency, reflects the house’s intent to highlight the varietal profile of Chardonnay and the calcareous essence of the Le Mesnil-sur-Oger terroir.

On the palate, Monochrome #7 reveals a creamy texture and extremely fine perlage, accompanying a flavor profile that is both elegant and precise. Notes of ripe citrus, crisp white fruit, delicate floral hints, and a subtle mineral imprint emerge. The tense, chiseled finish confirms the sleek and sophisticated character of a cuvée that stands out for its personality and stylistic precision.
