Contraste #3
The Champagne Contraste by Paul Launois is born from a precise, terroir-driven vision of Meunier, interpreted through vineyards located around the Vallée de l’Ardre, in the Montagne de Reims. A less conventional area yet one of strong expressive interest, where the grape variety finds ideal conditions to convey freshness, tension, and a clear, defined aromatic profile. The Contraste project aims to highlight the dialogue between energy and finesse, revealing an authentic and measured expression.
This Edition #3, based on the 2022 vintage, is a Blanc de Noirs vinified in stainless steel (70%) and oak barrels (30%), with spontaneous fermentation and natural malolactic fermentation. After tirage, the wine undergoes lees ageing for over 24 months, a choice that shapes its structure and overall balance. The profile is completed by a 1 g/l dosage, in Extra Brut style, enhancing precision and drive.
On tasting, Contraste #3 shows a tonic, immediate attack, followed by a layered bouquet of yellow fruits and yellow flowers. On the palate, the wine unfolds with a smooth, well-calibrated progression, supported by vibrant freshness and an elegant texture. The structure is balanced, the persistence extended, and the finish lingers on a subtle saline note, delivering a harmonious and refined whole.
