Founded in 1929 by twenty-four vignerons from the Grand Cru village of Mailly-Champagne, in the Montagne de Reims, the Coopérative Mailly was born from the vision of growers united to give value to their own work and to free themselves from the control of the great Maisons. A collective model built on independence and quality, which soon had to face a harsh boycott by the Syndicat du Commerce des Vins de Champagne. Deprived of any commercial outlet, the members reacted by producing and selling their own Champagne themselves.

At the entrance to the village, the members bought a plot of land and built a facility with a press and vinification tanks, devising an ingenious three-level gravity-flow system. With no capital or support, they rented equipment, salvaged used bottles and signed off their first run of 3,600 bottles, a symbol of resilience. Eighteen months later, the first customer purchased the entire production, giving a concrete start to the adventure of Champagne Mailly.

Today the Coopérative Mailly brings together more than eighty growers and cultivates 70 hectares entirely classified as Grand Cru. Its 35 lieux-dits, facing all four points of the compass, form a rare mosaic of terroir. Pinot Noir, rooted in the chalk, expresses freshness and a saline minerality, while Chardonnay brings balance and finesse. For nearly a century, Mailly has preserved the very spirit of its founders, a patient work of the land that continues to tell the story of the Grand Cru of Mailly-Champagne.
