Blanc de Pinot Noir

The Champagne Blanc de Pinot Noir is an identity-driven Blanc de Noirs cuvée that interprets with absolute purity the Mailly style, the result of experience and precision refined in the Grand Cru village of Mailly-Champagne, in the Montagne de Reims. Created over thirty years ago as an exclusive expression of Pinot Noir, it now represents one of the rare examples of a single-varietal wine from a single village classified as 100% Grand Cru, a symbol of elegance, energy, and perfectly balanced harmony.

The edition, from the 2021 harvest, sourced from selected lieux-dits – mostly on north-facing slopes – such as Les Champs de 8 Jours and Les Crayats, comes from a first pressing vinified and partly matured in oak barrels (25%). A significant percentage of reserve wines (34%), aged in foudres, enriches the cuvée with aromatic depth and complexity. After tirage, the wine undergoes at least 24 months of ageing on the lees in the historic chalk crayères, with a final dosage of 6 g/l, defining a Brut style of precision and dynamism. The result is a profile that combines structure, energy, and mineral finesse, in perfect balance between power and delicacy.

In tasting, Blanc de Pinot Noir appears light golden in colour, with a fine and continuous perlage. On the nose, it reveals notes of citrus, exotic fruit, and white-fleshed fruit, intertwined with nuances of toasted grain, hazelnut, and light honey. On the palate, it is creamy and juicy, with a silky texture, supported by vibrant acidity and an elegant progression leading to a saline and refreshing finish. The fine and spicy structure authentically reflects the personality of Mailly’s Pinot Noir in its white expression: pure, balanced, and modernly incisive.
