Coteaux Champenois Julien Prélat

Rouge "Fontaine Dieu" 2020

The Côteaux Champenois Rouge "Fontaine Dieu" bears the signature of Karine Prélat. It is a red wine made of 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the same-name parcel - planted in 1987 - in Les Riceys in the Côte des Bar. The grapes were selected and harvested on 5th September 2020 and then macerated for about 6 days before aging in wooden barrels for 10 months. Bottling followed suit in July 2021 - for only 304 bottles.
The Côteaux Champenois Rouge "Fontaine Dieu" by Karine Prélat is fruity on the nose with spicy notes and well integrated light notes of "bois". On the palate it is silky and precise, with aromas of small red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, etc.) that persist through the finish.

The Domaine Julien Prélat is located in the heart of Côte des Bar in the village of Celles-sur-Ource. It is with a love of well done work and a passion for wine that Karine and Julien offer Champagnes that reflect all the peculiarities of their terroir. Julien represents the fourth generation of winemakers in his family and applies a reasoned cultivation of the inherited land. His passion for oenology drives him to develop unique and rare wines, known as pure wines that fully express their different characteristics. At every stage of the production process, he is constantly striving for perfection, in order to satisfy his customers while respecting ancestral traditions.

Concerned about the land and the legacy to be left to future generations, Julien practises a quality and reasoned cultivation. Faithful to his principles, he is present in every phase of the life of his vineyards, from sowing to harvesting and the result is there to see: splendid vineyards and grapes of excellent quality. Julien vinifies each individual plot separately (lieux-dits) and keeps his wines in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels to ensure optimal product evolution. Ardent defender of 'Made in France', he only uses materials made 100% by French companies - true partners in his success.
