The Champagne Millésime 2019 by G.H. Mumm precisely reflects the historic style of the Maison, founded in 1827 and long dedicated to expressing a rigorous and linear interpretation of the Champagne terroir. The cuvée is based on a blend led by Pinot Noir, supported by Chardonnay and Meunier, with grapes largely sourced from Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, selected to ensure structure, finesse, and stylistic consistency in a vintage considered well-balanced.

The 2019 vintage was marked by contrasting conditions, with periods of intense heat alternating with cooler phases, allowing for full ripening and good aromatic concentration. Vinification and fermentation in stainless steel preserve clarity and precision, while a portion of vin de réserve contributes to stylistic continuity. After tirage, the wine undergoes lees ageing for at least 36 months, a key factor in developing complexity and depth. The final dosage of around 6 g/l, in Brut style, supports balance without weighing down the progression.

On the palate, Millésime 2019 reveals an elegant and well-defined profile, with notes of ripe white fruit, citrus, and delicate hints of pastry and hazelnut. It shows a solid yet dynamic structure, supported by well-integrated freshness and a fine, continuous texture. The finish is precise, clean, and harmonious, confirming the Maison’s stylistic identity, focused on balance, clarity, and consistency over time.

The history of the Maison G.H.Mumm and its wines started before 1827, when the maison was officially founded. The origins of the Mumm family, whose dinasty also includes barons and knights, date back to the 17th century. In 1761, the family started the wine production and commerce in Koln, under the label of P.A. Mumm, the owner's name, Peter Arnold Mumm.

In the early 19th century, Arnold's three sons, Gottlieb, Jacobus and Philipp understood the commercial potential of the sparkling wine from the French Champagne region. Relying on the good relationships between Germany and France, the Mumm brothers decided to open a branch in Reims in 1827, supported by a local wine-grower, G. Heuser.
