The Champagne Millésime 2016 by Taittinger is produced only in exceptional years, as a faithful expression of a single vintage and the vision of the chef de caves. It comes from predominantly Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages such as Bouzy, Ambonnay, Chouilly, Avize, Mailly-Champagne, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Ecueil, Hautvillers, Vertus and Bergères-les-Vertus, combining Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in equal parts to deliver a precise balance of structure, elegance and mineral tension.
This edition, Millésime 2018, is born from a vintage marked by contrasting weather conditions, yet ultimately yielding healthy, ripe and concentrated grapes. Vinification and fermentation start from first-press juices, with a high proportion of fruit sourced from Grands and Premiers Crus, bringing depth and finesse. After tirage, the wine undergoes over 5 years of ageing on the lees, enhancing its complexity and precision.
On the palate, this Millésime 2018 stands out for its brightness and aromatic finesse, with floral notes, pear, citrus and delicate spicy nuances. The palate shows energy and dynamism, supported by a silky texture and pronounced mineral tension. The finish is long and harmonious, with citrus echoes and an elegant closure marked by a subtle bitter note.
