Grand Cordon Rosé

The Champagne Grand Cordon Rosé by G.H. Mumm expresses the identity of the historic Maison of Reims, founded in 1827, through a contemporary lens, maintaining a style defined by precision and immediacy. The cuvée is built around a marked presence of Pinot Noir, largely sourced from Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, which provides structure and depth. Chardonnay and Meunier complete the blend, contributing balance, freshness, and lift on the palate.

Vinification and fermentation take place in stainless steel to preserve aromatic purity and linear expression, while the addition of a portion of red wine enhances the profile with greater complexity and color intensity. After bottling, the wine undergoes at least 24 months of ageing on the lees, essential for developing depth and textural continuity. The final dosage, in Brut style, supports the overall balance without weighing down the progression.

On the palate, Grand Cordon Rosé stands out for its bright rosé hue with copper reflections. The bouquet opens with notes of fresh red berries, including strawberry and raspberry, accompanied by citrus hints and light spicy nuances. It reveals a dynamic structure, supported by well-defined acidity and a precise texture, leading to a clean, fragrant finish with pleasant persistence, focused on freshness and drinkability.

The history of the Maison G.H.Mumm and its wines started before 1827, when the maison was officially founded. The origins of the Mumm family, whose dinasty also includes barons and knights, date back to the 17th century. In 1761, the family started the wine production and commerce in Koln, under the label of P.A. Mumm, the owner's name, Peter Arnold Mumm.

In the early 19th century, Arnold's three sons, Gottlieb, Jacobus and Philipp understood the commercial potential of the sparkling wine from the French Champagne region. Relying on the good relationships between Germany and France, the Mumm brothers decided to open a branch in Reims in 1827, supported by a local wine-grower, G. Heuser.

Quality was the key-world of the company from the beginning up to know. This philosophy has been summarised by Georges Hermann Mumm: "Only the best".
