Meunier Millésime 2021

The Champagne Meunier Millésime by Émilien Feneuil takes shape in the Premier Cru village of Sermiers, in the Montagne de Reims, where the grower tends his parcels with an artisanal approach deeply connected to natural rhythms. This Blanc de Noirs is born from a meticulous selection of 100% Meunier grapes grown on soils of sand, marl, clay, and soft limestone, elements that give the wine a marked sapidity and a clear mineral imprint, faithfully expressing the identity of its origin.

This edition, Millésime 2021, is vinified and fermented in wooden barrels with indigenous yeasts, without fining or filtration, in order to preserve integrity and expressive transparency. After tirage, it undergoes aging on the lees for at least 36 months, a step that enhances aromatic depth and complexity. The final dosage of 0 g/l, in Brut Nature style, highlights a choice of precision and stylistic coherence, placing the purity of Meunier and the authentic reading of the terroir at the forefront.

On tasting, Meunier Millésime 2021 reveals an intense and layered profile: the nose opens with mineral and chalky nuances, followed by hints of ripe fruit and delicate floral notes. On the palate it is vibrant and precise, supported by lively acidity that gives momentum and definition to the structure. The finish is long, savory, and persistent, a true reflection of Émilien Feneuil’s artisanal vision and the territorial character of Meunier from Sermiers.

Emilien Feneuil

Émilien Feneuil is a young and talented "artisan vigneron" who works his own plots near the village of Sermiers, that is delightful Premier Cru vineyards looking east, north and west between Reims and Epernay in the Montagne de Reims area. The name of the village of Sermiers derives from the root Sarm and was born to indicate the rather salty soils, where there are many geological layers consisting of sand, marl, clay and soft limestone, releasing salinity which is then found in its wines.

All 4 plots of property - for a total of 2.37 hectares - are divided into 43% Meunier, 28% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Noir, 7% Petit Meslier and certified organic farming is conducted, therefore without the use of herbicides, chemical or systemic fertilizers. Émilien works in a natural way, and he lets the terroir express itself at its best; he favours its diversity basing his choices on the observation of everything that is present on the soil - choices guided by a strong knowledge and sensitivity.

Natural alchemy in soils and wines is never rushed, always respecting the rhythms of nature. For all the Cuvées, fermentation takes place in wooden barrels, second-hand tonneaux, with indigenous yeasts only and no filtration. He does not use any type of "liqueur d'expédition" in the disgorging phase, but only wine from the same vintage. Real and authentic Champagne wines and not only Champagnes!
