The Côteaux Champenois Blanc Origine by Domaine Carré Frères was conceived as an identity-driven project aimed at exploring the most restrained and rigorous side of the Montagne de Reims, through a precise, terroir-focused interpretation of Chardonnay. The grapes come from the Lieu-Dit “Les Hautes Bouitais”, near Trépail Premier Cru, an area historically suited to the taut, mineral expressions of the variety, where altitude and exposure help shape a profile defined by precision and verticality.

This 2022 vintage is produced exclusively from Chardonnay, vinified following a careful artisanal approach that respects the integrity of the raw material. Fermentation and subsequent ageing in 228-litre oak barrels accompany the wine until bottling in July 2024, without corrective interventions, preserving balance and expressive purity. Production is deliberately limited to just 937 bottles, underscoring the project’s experimental and single micro-parcel character.

On tasting, Origine reveals a taut and linear profile, with notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, and subtle chalky nuances. On the palate, the structure is precise, supported by a vibrant acidity that drives a dry, progressive development. The finish is measured yet deep, marked by a saline close that reinforces overall balance and delivers an authentic, uncompromising expression of the Trépail terroir.
