Bouzy Rouge 2018
At the end of the 14th century, it was in Bouzy that Pinot Noir, originally from Burgundy, was introduced to Champagnefor the very first time. Bouzy Rouge remains a living testament to that remarkable era when red wines were the pride of the region and the foundation of its reputation.
The Coteaux Champenois Bouzy Rouge by Benoît Lahaye is made from 100% Pinot Noir, harvested in 2018 from the Lieu-Dit "Des Cloches", an old vineyard located near the Grand Cru village of Bouzy. Vinification involves a long whole-cluster maceration of around 30 days in clay amphorae, followed by 15 months of ageing in 228-litre oak barrels before bottling.
On the palate, this Bouzy Rouge captivates with its bright ruby red colour and deep bouquet of red berries. It surprises with its smooth sweetness and delicate texture, perfectly balanced by remarkable finesse, enhancing both its harmony and elegance.
