Champagne Benoît Lahaye
Violaine 2020
The Champagne Violaine by Benoît Lahaye is born from a strictly equal blend: 50% Chardonnay from the lieu-dit Les Argentières in Tauxières and 50% Pinot Noir from the lieu-dit Les Monts des Tours in Bouzy, an iconic Grand Cru of the Montagne de Reims. The vineyards, cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles, fully embody the artisanal and terroir-respectful philosophy that has always guided Lahaye’s work.
This Millésime 2020 edition is vinified in fût de chêne using exclusively indigenous yeasts. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations occur spontaneously, without racking or clarification, followed by about 10 months of élevage on the lees. After tirage, the wine ages for at least 48 months on the lees before disgorgement. The entire process is defined by the total absence of added sulfites (Sans Soufre), the absence of filtration, and a radical choice: zero dosage, resulting in a Brut Nature that is essential, pure, and strongly identity-driven.
On the palate, Violaine 2020 reveals a complex and vibrant profile: the nose weaves together crisp red fruits, violet, dried orange peel, and a hint of toasted sesame, with subtle vegetal and spicy nuances. On the palate, it expresses both energy and finesse, combining saline tension with a velvety texture in a rare balance of precision and sensuality. The finish is long and harmonious, animated by a vibrant minerality that enhances its depth and character.
A no-compromise Champagne, uniting expressive purity and aromatic intensity, and standing as one of the most authentic and radical interpretations of the Montagne de Reims terroir according to Benoît Lahaye.
