Les Monts de la Vallée Magnum V20
The Champagne Les Monts de la Vallée by Antoine Bouvet offers a territorial reading of Pinot Noir from the Vallée de la Marne, picked from forty-year-old vines rooted in the Premier Cru of Avenay Val d'Or, Bisseuil and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. An artisanal cuvée built on precision, rigour and a careful reading of the terroir, where the mosaic of calcareous-chalky soils and the eastern exposure help to shape a deep, elegant and luminous identity.
This edition, 2020 harvest, interprets a Blanc de Noirs from Pinot Noir grapes alone, with vinification and maturation lasting eight months in fût de chêne, following an approach that encourages a slow oxygenation and a natural aromatic expansion. After the tirage comes an ageing on the lees of about twenty-four months that defines its balance and expressiveness, while the choice to remain with no final dosage, in Extra Brut style, underlines transparency, tension and purity.
On tasting, Les Monts de la Vallée shows a delicately nuanced hue that anticipates the energy of Pinot Noir and an aromatic frame of fresh red fruits, wild strawberries and raspberry, supported by light floral notes and a subtle chalky minerality. On the palate it reveals drive and balance, with a vibrant freshness held up by structure and a fine texture, in a linear and precise development leading to a long, layered and distinctly mineral finish.
