The Champagne Ambonnay Vinothèque by André Beaufort is crafted from a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay, in the Montagne de Reims. It is one of the most emblematic cuvées in Beaufort’s entire production, encapsulating the vigneron’s natural vision: indigenous yeasts, spontaneous fermentations, and the exclusive use of natural sugars—grape must and concentrated grape juice—for tirage. A radical, identity-driven style that has turned Ambonnay Vinothèque into true collector’s items, sought after for their longevity and their character outside contemporary conventions.
This 2006 vintage edition, recently disgorged, benefited from approximately seventeen years of lees ageing, a defining factor in its depth, complexity, and extraordinary ageing potential. The wine is released with no final dosage, in a Brut Nature style, offering a pure, unmediated expression of the Ambonnay terroir. Manual riddling and disgorgement à la volée complete a production path that fully respects the Champenoise tradition.
In tasting, Ambonnay Vinothèque 2006 reveals a deep, broad, and fully evolved profile, where ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, yeast notes, grape must, and honey intertwine, complemented by hints of dried fruit, hazelnut, sweet spices, and toasted nuances.
