Champagne Vincent Cuillier
Fusion 2022
The Champagne Fusion by Vincent Cuillier is a Blanc de Noirs that offers a rigorous and thoughtful interpretation of the meeting between Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes, sourced from vineyards in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, and reflects a vision focused on regenerative viticulture, respect for natural cycles and the pursuit of a lasting balance between plant, soil and environment. The vines, at around 180 metres above sea level, grow on Thanetian sands, well-drained soils rich in organic matter that give the wine remarkable aromatic precision and an airy, mineral texture, faithfully conveying the character of a still little-known area north-west of Reims.
This edition, Vintage 2022, takes shape in a year marked by stable and bright weather conditions, ideal for a complete and harmonious ripening of the grapes, and shows a prevalence of Pinot Noir grapes alongside 40% Meunier. After a careful selection of the bunches, vinification and maturation take place with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous malolactic fermentation in second-fill 500-litre barrels, with about 10 months of maturation. After the tirage comes an ageing of at least 36 months on the lees, at the end of which the wine receives no final dosage, in Brut Nature style, confirming an intact and authentic reading of the terroir and the vintage.
On tasting, Fusion 2022 shows a bright golden colour with light amber highlights and a fine, steady perlage, leading into a broad and layered nose of ripe red fruits, yellow stone fruit, sweet spices, toasty hints and mineral, chalky nuances. On the palate the structure is full and silky, supported by a linear tension that carries aromas of ripe fruit, candied lemon and toasted hazelnut through to a long, saline and precise finish, in which the mineral signature of the Thanetian sands and the natural balance of the wine clearly emerge.
