Champagne Roger Coulon
Continuum
The Champagne Continuum by Roger Coulon originates from the lieu-dit “Les Champs Chevalier” in Vrigny, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, where old vineyards cultivated according to organic farming and agroforestry principles are rooted in sandy soils. This cuvée stands among the Domaine’s deepest and rarest interpretations, shaped around the dialogue between time, terroir, and exceptionally long ageing.
This edition is based on a blend of 65% Chardonnay grapes and 35% Meunier from the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 harvests, interpreted through spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maturation in old 205-litre champenoise pièces, while the extended ageing on the lees for around 150 months guides the wine toward remarkable aromatic depth and textural complexity. Without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, it preserves a saline, precise, and deeply distinctive character.
In tasting, Continuum reveals aromas of candied citrus, dried figs, gingerbread, ripe yellow fruit, alongside delicate toasted and oxidative nuances. On the palate it shows a broad and enveloping structure, supported by a fine mousse, a pronounced saline imprint, and elegant bittersweet notes that lead into a long, intense, and persistent finish.
