The Champagne Extra Brut by Rémi Leroy originates in Meurville, in the southern sector of the Côte des Bar, a strongly distinctive area where Pinot Noir finds one of its most authentic expressions on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils. Rémi Leroy’s vision is deeply artisan, focused on a faithful interpretation of the terroir, with meticulous work in the vineyard aimed at optimal ripeness and a cellar approach defined by restraint, precision, and the absence of stylistic artifice, resulting in Champagnes of balance and expressive clarity.

This edition, based on the 2022 base vintage and completed with 15% vin de réserve, is produced from an assemblage in which Pinot Noir plays a central role (65%), supported by Chardonnay (30%) and a small proportion of Meunier (5%). Vinification includes gentle pressing and fermentations carried out in both stainless steel and oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation taking place. After bottling, the wine undergoes lees ageing for a minimum of 18 months, designed to build complexity without sacrificing freshness, with a final dosage of 2 g/l that enhances tension and precision.

In tasting, this Extra Brut shows a clean, vertical profile, where notes of white fruit, ripe citrus, and subtle floral nuances intertwine with deeper hints of yeast and chalk. On the palate, the entry is taut and dynamic, supported by well-calibrated freshness and a measured structure, with a distinct minerality accompanying the wine’s progression. The finish is dry and linear, with an overall balance that coherently reflects the vigneron’s rigorous, terroir-driven style.
