Champagne Philipponnat
Réserve Perpétuelle
The Champagne Réserve Perpétuelle by Philipponnat represents the most authentic expression of the House style, a tribute to the Champenois tradition of continuous renewal that since 1946 has linked every new harvest to the memory of those before it. Its name comes from the method of the same name, which progressively blends the wines of the year with a vin de réserve kept in wood, preserving over time a rare balance between immediate freshness and layered depth.
This edition, with a 2021 base harvest at 44% and a 56% réserve perpétuelle, brings together 65% Pinot Noir grapes, 32% Chardonnay and 3% Meunier, selected and harvested largely in Grands and Premiers Crus villages around Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Vinification and fermentation follow tradition, with a first pressing and a fermentation carried out in steel and wood to avoid premature oxidation. After the tirage comes an ageing on the lees of at least three years, while the restrained final dosage, in Brut style, balances freshness, fruit and vinosity without masking the character of the wine.
On tasting, this Réserve Perpétuelle shows an intense gold hue with amber reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose it offers vine flowers, linden and lightly toasted bread, evolving towards red fruits, citrus and honey. On the palate it is broad, structured and fruity, with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry and ripe grape sustained by a creamy, lively texture, and a long close on tones of biscuit and freshly baked bread. A complex, harmonious Champagne that perfectly embodies the philosophy of Philipponnat, a perpetual youth in continuous movement.
