Champagne Perrier-Jouët
Grand Brut
The Champagne Grand Brut by Perrier-Jouët is born from the meeting of over 50 crus across Champagne, where the Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru and Premier Cru of Mailly, Verzy, Aÿ and Rilly-la-Montagne meets the Meunier from the terroirs of Dizy, Damery, Venteuil, Vincelles and Vinay, completed by the Chardonnay from the Grand Cru of Cramant, Avize, Le Mesnil and Chouilly. Here the identity of the cuvée takes shape, an expression of the floral and refined style that has distinguished the Maison since 1846, when Perrier-Jouët drastically reduced the dosage of its cuvées to win over the English market, helping to define the Brut category as we know it today.
This cuvée takes form from a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, enriched by a proportion of between 12% and 14% of vin de réserve drawn from the two or three preceding harvests. Vinification takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and continues with malolactic fermentation, followed by ageing on the lees for a minimum of 36 months in the Maison's chalk cellars, up to a final dosage in the Brut style that, allowing the purity of the fruit to emerge, completes the profile with balance and heightens the aromatic delicacy of this Champagne.
On tasting, the Grand Brut stands out for its finesse, elegance and balance rather than power, with a fine golden colour and a delicate, persistent perlage. On the nose it opens with floral notes of white flowers, fruit-tree blossom, linden and honeysuckle, enriched by hints of fresh fruit such as lemon and peach and of yellow fruits like apricot and mango. On the palate it combines the vivacity of its floral and fruity fragrances with the generosity of a structured and rounded texture, with a pleasant evolution towards notes of butter, brioche and vanilla that leads to a harmonious finish where the generosity of the fruit blends with the floral and refined style of the Maison.
