Champagne Pascal Mazet
Nature
The Champagne Nature by Pascal Mazet comes to life in Chigny-les-Roses, a Premier Cru village of the Montagne de Reims, the fruit of a vineyard that the vigneron tends with the principles of regenerative viticulture, in harmony with biodiversity and with the delicate balance of the living world. The most authentic and representative expression of the estate, this cuvée embodies a philosophy of absolute sincerity, conceived to yield complex and timeless champagnes able to convey the clay-limestone character of a land worked with artisanal sensitivity, where the prevalence of Meunier traces a fruity and welcoming profile.
This edition, from the 2017 harvest at 21% and 2018 at 58%, is rounded out by 21% perpetual reserve (réserve perpétuelle), and features a blend dominated by Meunier alongside 17% Pinot Blanc, 5% Pinot Noir and 3% Chardonnay, while vinification and ageing are split equally between oak barrels and stainless steel and enamelled tanks, combining depth and definition. After at least 30 months of ageing on its own lees and with no final dosage, in a Brut Nature style, the wine offers itself with full transparency, letting the raw material and the minerality of the fruit emerge.
On the palate it stands out for its freshness and harmony, supported by a lively acidity that traces its drive and by a saline minerality that prolongs its development, while on the palate the softness of the Meunier meets that of the Pinot Blanc and the verticality of the complementary varieties, giving rise to a fragrant and balanced sip that closes with a long, finely savoury finish, marked by a slight bitter note, confirming the balance and persistence of this interpretation.
