The Champagne Brut Nature by Nathalie Falmet comes from the hills of the Côte des Bar, that southern stretch of Champagne where Pinot Noir finds one of its purest and most distinctive expressions. The philosophy behind this single-parcel cuvée is to let one terroir speak for itself, a Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soil rich in marine fossils laid down millions of years ago, capable of giving the wine a razor-sharp minerality and a verticality that becomes its stylistic signature and a pursuit of absolute expressive authenticity.
This edition, 2022 harvest, expresses the total purity of Pinot Noir picked from a single parcel. Vinification and fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while after tirage the wine rests on the lees for at least 24 months. With no final dosage, in a Brut Nature style, the natural tension is brought to the fore.
On tasting it reveals a golden robe crossed by a fine and persistent perlage, with a profile weaving citrus drive and soft suggestions of white-fleshed fruit. On the palate the structure unfolds over an intense, saline minerality, supported by a vibrant acidity that brings balance and energy. The persistence is long and coherent, closed by a fragrant and bracing finish that reaffirms the rigorous, measured character of this Blanc de Noirs.
