Champagne A. Lamblot
Mouvance 22
The Champagne Mouvance by A. Lamblot offers a sincere portrait of the Vallée de la Vesle, a still little-explored corner of Champagne just outside Reims, where Janvry and its neighbouring villages hold soils of Ypresian sands and Thanetian calcareous sandstone, light and free-draining soils that give Pinot Noir unexpected tension and finesse. Alexandre Lamblot returned to his family’s vineyards after a long career in the wine trade and now runs the Maison with an artisanal, respectful approach inspired by biodynamics and guided by the lunar cycles, in which each cuvée takes shape from listening to the vineyard rather than from a set recipe.
This 22 edition, based on the 2022 harvest, is a Blanc de Noirs made solely from Pinot Noir grapes, with vinification and fermentation entrusted to indigenous yeasts in fût de chêne, where the wine matures for around ten months without cold stabilisation, fining or filtration and with total sulphites below 10 mg/l. After tirage comes around 30 months of ageing on the lees until the dégorgement à la volée, after which the wine is released without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, so that it can fully express its character.
On tasting, Mouvance 22 shows a pale gold hue with faint copper glints and a fine, lively perlage. The nose opens on crisp red fruit, redcurrant and wild strawberry, joined by citrus zest, bread crust and a subtle saline trace that recalls the sandy soils of its origin. On the palate it is taut, vertical and uncompromising, with a slender but well-defined structure and vibrant acidity that carries the fruit, while its balance favours precision over opulence and leads to a long, savoury and mineral finish of remarkable persistence. Production in a limited run of 800 bottles.
