Les Reines Millésime Magnum 2021
The Champagne Les Reines by Julien Prélat represents one of the most refined and radiant expressions of Chardonnay from the Côte des Bar, a region that in recent years has gained prominence within Champagne for its genuine identity and the artisanal dedication of its vignerons.
This Millésime 2021 comes from a single vineyard near Celles-sur-Ource, planted in 2007 and rooted in Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils rich in marine fossils, which endow the Chardonnay with energy, tension, and mineral finesse. Vinification, carried out partly in fût de chêne, imparts depth and aromatic complexity while preserving the purity of the variety. After tirage, the wine is aged on the lees for at least 36 months, achieving balance and harmony. With no final dosage, this Brut Nature embodies the Domaine’s essential philosophy, aimed at expressing the truth of the fruit and the salinity of the soil.
On tasting, Les Reines 2021 reveals a bright golden hue with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose opens with crisp white fruit, ripe citrus, and wildflower notes, followed by hints of vanilla, sweet spices, and subtle menthol tones. The palate is silky and vibrant, marked by lively freshness and an elegant, chalky minerality, leading to a long, precise, and perfectly balanced finish. A Blanc de Blancs Champagne of remarkable purity, verticality, and terroir-driven character, epitomizing the contemporary sensibility and artisanal precision of Julien Prélat.
