The Champagne Vertus by Hélène is a Blanc de Blancs shaped by old vines located in the Premier Cru village of Vertus, in the southern part of the Côte des Blancs, an area appreciated for its ability to combine mineral tension, chalky precision and broader aromatic expression in Champagne Chardonnay. The old vines, rooted in soils rich in chalk and limestone clay, deliver an intense and luminous interpretation of the terroir, while Pierre Hugot’s vision favours an essential and respectful approach aimed at preserving authenticity, balance and expressive energy.

This MMXIX edition, based on the 2019 harvest, is interpreted through spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts and maturation divided between stainless steel and wood, a choice that slowly guides the wine’s evolution without altering its mineral definition. After tirage, the wine undergoes a minimum of 48 months ageing on the lees, contributing greater depth, aromatic complexity and continuity on the palate. Without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, it maintains a saline, vertical and particularly precise expression of the Vertus terroir.

In tasting, Vertus MMXIX reveals aromas of fresh citrus, green apple, white flowers and delicate hints of almond and fine pastry. On the palate, the texture is energetic and refined, supported by a pronounced chalky imprint that leads into a long, savoury and elegant finish.
