Les Mayeux
The Champagne Les Mayeux by Gilbert Leseurre is made from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from a single parcel in the village of Arrentières, in the Côte des Bar. The cuvée comes exclusively from the 2016 harvest, a faithful expression of a precise vintage and a clay-limestone terroir, which lends the wine depth and tension.
Vinification in fût de chêne balances freshness and structure, enriching the aromatic profile with complex nuances. After the tirage, the wine is aged for over 5 years on the lees, before being finished with a dosage of 2 g/l, in Extra Brut style. This choice enhances the expressive brilliance of the cuvée, highlighting the minerality and persistence typical of Pinot Noir. The vigneron's approach favors authenticity, allowing the grape variety to fully express its completeness and vitality.
On the palate, Les Mayeux stands out for its vibrancy and refinement. The mouthfeel is voluptuous and dynamic, with a fruity texture that recalls small red berries, citrus notes, and spicy hints, revealing a precise and engaging profile.
