Champagne Eric Taillet
Sur le Grand Marais
The Champagne Sur le Grand Marais by Éric Taillet is crafted from a blend of 90% Meunier and 10% Chardonnay, grown in a complantée vineyard near the village of Baslieux-sous-Châtillon in the Vallée de la Marne. The clay- and marl-rich soils give the wine structure, mineral energy, and a strong sense of identity.
The cuvée comes from a Réserve Perpétuelle spanning vintages from 2013 to 2018. Vinification takes place in fûts de chêne, with a 9-month maturation, followed by long aging on lees for over 48 months. The Brut Nature style – with no dosage – allows the wine to express the pure voice of the terroir, enhancing its freshness, tension, and mineral persistence.
In tasting, Sur le Grand Marais shows a broad and layered profile: the nose opens with candied citrus, ripe white fruits, hints of dark honey, and delicate nuances of truffle and damp earth. The palate is vibrant and incisive at the attack, followed by an enveloping fullness that unfolds in a sip both creamy and vertical, where citrus-driven freshness meets saline minerality. The finish is long, precise, and persistent, with fine spice notes and a subtle, almost truffled echo that invites contemplation.
