The Champagne V.P. (Vieillissement Prolongé) by Egly-Ouriet is an exceptional cuvée crafted from a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from vineyards located in the prestigious village of Ambonnay, Grand Cru of the Montagne de Reims.The initials V.P. embody the philosophy of prolonged ageing, a cornerstone of the Egly-Ouriet style: an approach that allows the Champagne to reveal aromatic breadth, depth, and remarkable longevity. In line with the vision of the Domaine, extended maturation is not an exception but a defining hallmark, designed to enhance the expressive potential of the finest Champenois terroirs.
This edition, based on the 2017 harvest, includes a significant proportion of reserve wines, symbolizing the stylistic consistency of the Domaine. Vinification takes place in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, without filtration, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the wine’s natural complexity. Ageing for 84 months on the lees and a minimal dosage of 2 g/l, in Extra Brut style, complete a production philosophy guided by authenticity, balance, and precision.
On the palate, V.P. presents a broad and vibrant profile, revealing refined notes of toasted hazelnut, candied citrus, brioche, and subtle smoky nuances. The mouthfeel is full and tense, carried by a chalky mineral freshness that accentuates its elegance and persistence, sealing a Champagne of rare depth and extraordinary finesse.
