Les Passagers "Fiole"
The Champagne Les Passagers “Fiole” by Clandestin is an exclusive Blanc de Blancs made entirely from Chardonnay grapes. This cuvée invites a sensory journey that highlights the purity and authenticity of the terroir, expressing the truest personality of the Côte des Bar. For the 2023 harvest, the grapes come from the soils of Ville-sur-Arce, the same as those used for the “Les Revers” cuvée, but with a northern exposure — a position that lends greater breadth and depth, thanks to the denser clay soils and the generosity of a sunny, energetic vintage.
Les Passagers perfectly embodies the artisanal and terroir-driven philosophy typical of Domaine Clandestin, which values lesser-known parcels with remarkable expressive potential. Each cuvée is born from a natural approach and a winemaking process that prioritizes the integrity of the fruit and the transparency of its origin. Fermentations are spontaneous, with no added sulfites, followed by about 18 months of ageing on the lees. The absence of final dosage, in the Brut Nature style, preserves the freshness and purity of the Chardonnay, showcasing the authenticity of its terroir.
In tasting, Les Passagers “Fiole” displays a bright, pale gold color with a fine and steady perlage. The bouquet is broad and luminous, revealing notes of ripe citrus, yellow apple, and white flowers, intertwined with nuances of honey, almond, and chalk. On the palate, it is dense and harmonious, with lively freshness balanced by a soft, creamy texture. The finish, long and mineral, reveals crystalline purity and refined tension, sealing a Blanc de Blancs of perfect balance and authenticity.
