Champagne Bollinger
La Côte aux Enfants 2013
The Champagne La Côte aux Enfants by Bollinger embodies the visionary spirit of its founder Jacques Bollinger and the desire, uninterrupted since 1829, to preserve and enhance the terroir of Champagne. This cuvée is born from a long research conducted on the eponymous plot in the village of Aÿ, classified as Grand Cru, a vineyard planted with Pinot Noir of rare vocation that authentically expresses a deep connection between the history of the Maison and the land that generates it, in a new vision of its savoir-faire.
This edition, Vintage 2013, comes from a year marked by a rainy spring combined with a hot summer with the strongest sunshine ever recorded in Champagne, challenging conditions that nonetheless yielded grapes of high quality, particularly for the Grands Crus of Aÿ. Vinification and fermentation take place in small oak barrels, and after tirage a long maturation under cork of over 9 years follows before dégorgement. The final dosage of 4 g/l, in an Brut style, completes a rich wine with a strong personality.
On tasting, La Côte aux Enfants 2013 appears with a golden robe and yellow-gold reflections and reveals itself lively and complex, sustained by a fine acidity that paces its development. On the palate the substance is rich and deep, where citrus and ripe fruit notes intertwine with buttery nuances and a touch of candied red fruits, leading to a long finish with a marked mineral tension that confirms its character.
