Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre

Autor de la Creusette 2018

The Champagne Autour de la Creusette by Bertrand-Delespierre is a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Pinot Noir, obtained from grapes grown in the surroundings of the Premier Cru villages of Chamery and Écueil, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. The vines, planted in 1973 and 1980, are rooted in clay-loam soils with southeast exposure, and are managed with natural grassing and mechanical tillage, following a farming approach that respects the environment and biodiversity.

The 2018 harvest gave life to a Millésimé Champagne that fully reflects the character of the terroir and the artisanal style of the Domaine. Vinification takes place partly (35%) in demi-muid and the remaining 65% in stainless steel, with no fining or filtration, in order to preserve the pure expression of the fruit. After bottling, the wine ages at least 48 months on the lees, before being disgorged with a dosage of less than 1 g/l, thus falling into the Extra Brut category.

This 2018 Millésime Champagne stands out for its precise structure, vibrant freshness, and elegant minerality, making it ideal for those seeking an authentic and deeply terroir-driven cuvée. Production is limited to 2,037 bottles, a testament to meticulous and high-precision winemaking.

Bertrand-Delespierre

The Domaine Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 in Chamery by Chantal Delespierre and Didier Bertrand, both from winegrowing families. Independent vignerons, they are now joined in running the family estate by two of their children, Clémence and Adrien, who are involved in vineyard management as well as in production and sales.

The vineyard area extends over 10 hectares across the terroirs of Chamery, Écueil, Ville-Dommange and Montbré, all Premier Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. The vines, with an average age of around 30 years, are planted with the classic Champagne varieties—Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier—and are divided into about sixty parcels, managed according to sustainable viticulture practices with a strong focus on biodiversity.

In the cellar, vinification is carried out with great care at every stage. Pressing is done parcel by parcel using a traditional Champagne press, while fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks or in 600-liter demi-muids, depending on the origin of the grapes. The average ageing period is around four years and extends further for vintage cuvées, resulting in Champagnes with a distinctly artisanal style, structured and with a well-defined character.
