Diplodocus 2020

The Champagne Diplodocus by Alexandre Chaillon is the result of a blend of Pinot Noir (66%), Chardonnay (34%) and Meunier (10%), sourced from selected plots in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, specifically from the lieux-dits Terres de Breux in Brugny and Les Renards in Pierry, a village classified as Premier Cru.

In these sites, the vines sink their roots into soils composed of chalk, marl, and clay, shaped over geological eras ranging from the Campanian to the Sparnacian. This deep stratification imparts the wine with an intense mineral signature and a complexity of rare expressiveness.

This edition, Millésime 2020, was vinified in 300-liter concrete eggs, followed by 12 months of ageing on fine lees, without any filtration. After tirage, the wine matured for around 40 months on the lees, before being disgorged with no dosage, in Brut Nature style.

On the palate, Diplodocus 2020 stands out for its elegant and deep nose, where notes of candied citrus, toasted hazelnut, and subtle iodine hints intertwine. The mouthfeel is vertical and precise, driven by a saline freshness that sculpts the structure. The finish is long and vibrant, faithfully echoing the mineral profile of the soils and the purity of the style. Produced in a limited edition of only 1,122 bottles.
