Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2012

The Comtes de Champagne Rosé by Taittinger is one of the most emblematic expressions of the Maison's style, produced exclusively in exceptional vintages. The 2012 Millésime is the result of a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from Grands Crus vineyards: the Pinot Noir from Mailly-Champagne, Bouzy and Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims; the Chardonnay from Chouilly, Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs.

The 2012 vintage was marked by strong climatic contrasts: after a difficult start to the year, the return of the sun in late July and low yields allowed for an exceptional ripening of the grapes. The Chardonnay expressed itself with grace and refinement, while the Pinot Noir showed a material strength and aromatic intensity that was quite extraordinary. The result is a cuvée of great harmony and precision, reflecting the balance between the chalky structure of the terroir and the opulence of the vintage, in a synthesis that perfectly embodies the soul of Comtes de Champagne Rosé.

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, in order to preserve the aromatic freshness and precision of the fruit. What makes this cuvée unique is the addition of 12-15% red vinified Pinot Noir from Bouzy, which brings colour, depth and aromatic intensity. After bottling, the wine is aged for over 12 years in the Gallo-Roman crayères of Saint-Nicaise, beneath Reims, allowing the development of an extraordinarily complex and refined bouquet.

On tasting, Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2012 reveals a luminous salmon pink hue, traversed by a fine and continuous perlage. On the nose it is deep, layered, and constantly evolving, with aromas that gradually unfold, inviting a wide and engaging sensory experience. On the palate, it seduces with its authenticity and vitality: subtle yet generous, marked by elegant hints of wild strawberries and fresh redcurrant, with a perfectly integrated effervescence. The finish, animated by a refined bitterness and fresh acidity, enhances its tension and depth, delivering an intense and profound conclusion.
