Un Brin de Meunier 2013
The Champagne Un Brin de Meunier by Rémy Lequeux-Mercier authentically interprets the spirit of Passy-sur-Marne. This small village lies in the Vallée de la Marne, where estate vineyards facing south grow in a landscape of rare beauty, suspended between the forest and the course of the river. Here viticulture develops in harmony with the environment, without herbicides or insecticides, while clay-limestone soils over sand and full sun exposure guide the grapes towards rich, concentrated ripeness. What takes shape is a Blanc de Noirs that authentically expresses the identity of the territory and the artisanal approach of the Vigneron.
This edition, Vintage 2013, is made exclusively from Meunier grapes, with vinification and maturation carried out entirely in stainless steel, a choice that fully enhances varietal integrity and purity of fruit. After tirage comes a long ageing on the lees of at least eight years, which enriches the structure of the wine and amplifies its expressive complexity, while the absence of final dosage, in Brut Nature style, keeps its natural tension intact.
On tasting, Un Brin de Meunier 2013 shows an intense, luminous golden colour and a fine, lively perlage. The nose opens with notes of ripe yellow fruit, quince and small red berries, accompanied by hints of bread crust, toasted hazelnut and delicate spicy nuances born from the long time spent on the lees. On the palate it combines richness and precision, with a broad structure supported by saline tension and vibrant freshness that shape its elegant profile, leading to a long, savoury finish of great persistence. Production in a limited run of 1,426 bottles.
