Champagne Rémy Lequeux-Mercier

Un Brin de Meunier

The Champagne Un Brin de Meunier by Rémy Lequeux-Mercier is made from 100% Meunier, grown on estate-owned, south-facing vineyards in the village of Passy-sur-Marne, on the rive droite of the Vallée de la Marne. Here, between forest and river, lies a landscape of rare beauty, where viticulture flourishes in harmony with the environment, without the use of herbicides or insecticides. The clay-limestone soil layered over sand, combined with full sun exposure, promotes the ripening of rich, concentrated grapes.

The cuvée comes entirely from the 2013 harvest and is vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel, to preserve the full varietal integrity. It then undergoes a very long ageing on the lees, for a minimum of 8 years, enriching the wine’s structure and enhancing its expressive complexity. The result is a Brut Nature Champagne (0 g/l) that combines richness, saline tension, freshness, and elegance. Released in a limited edition of only 1,426 bottles, “Un Brin de Meunier” authentically reflects the territorial identity and artisanal spirit of the Vigneron.

Vigneron Indépendant located in Passy-sur-Marne, a village in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, the Lequeux-Mercier family Domaine has been producing Champagne for many generations. The owned vineyard consists of 7 hectares distributed across 25 parcels in Passy-sur-Marne, Barzy-sur-Marne, Château-Thierry and Dormans in which the 3 typical Champagne vines (Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay) are grown.

80% of the vineyards face south on clay-marly soils and are cultivated rigorously applying the principles of sustainable viticulture. This strong commitment to reducing external interventions to a minimum has the aim of promoting healthy growth of the individual vines in order to preserve the authenticity of its flavors and the specificity of the terroir.

In the cellar, the fermentation process is conducted as long as possible to ensure soft and fine aromas, malolactic fermentation is not done systematically, but depending on the potential of the wine, to preserve the original and authentic freshness of the future Champagne. After the tirage, the refinement on the yeasts takes place in the cool and shaded underground cellars of the Domaine, for a minimum of 4 years and up to 10 for the vintages.
