The Champagne Copin Chardonnay by Pierre Deville is born as an identity-driven interpretation of Chardonnay cultivated in Verzy, one of the most emblematic Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims. The Domaine’s historic parcels — in particular Les Épinettes and Les Alouettes — take root in chalky and clay-limestone soils that confer energy, verticality, and a mineral finesse typical of the village. Alban Corbeaux project aims to express the purity of Chardonnay through an essential, transparent style deeply connected to the character of the territory.

This 2020 vintage edition originates from a selection of grapes coming from old vines, vinified with spontaneous fermentations and maturation in fût de chêne, according to the artisanal approach that characterizes the Domaine. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, while ageing on the lees continues for a minimum of 36 months. Disgorgement is carried out without compromise to expressive purity, with a dosage below 2 g/L, Extra Brut, to preserve tension, verticality, and a clear reading of the fruit.

In tasting, Copin Chardonnay reveals a luminous and well-defined profile: notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, and fresh almond emerge over a chalky background typical of Verzy. On the palate it shows a balance between finesse and depth, a creamy texture supported by precise freshness, and a long, saline, crystalline finish. The persistence is elegant, marked by mineral nuances that confirm the elegant and identity-driven character of this Blanc de Blancs.
