The Champagne Contrée Noire by Thibaud Brocard – Domaine Pierre Brocard – originates from the Val-Frion parcel, set on a complex substratum of hard Portlandian limestone, lumachelle with exogyra, Kimmeridgian marl, and brown clay. In this geological context, 100% Pinot Noir finds an intense and vertical expression, capable of combining depth of substance with mineral tension. A Blanc de Noirs that interprets the Côte des Bar with rigor and territorial coherence, enhancing structure and elegance.

This edition, Millésime 2018, involves pressing with a traditional 4000 kg vertical Coquard press, followed by vinification and fermentation exclusively in stainless steel, a choice that preserves aromatic precision and fruit definition. After bottling, the wine undergoes lees aging for a minimum of 6 years, a period that enhances complexity while maintaining balance and drive. With no final dosage, in Brut Nature style, it transparently expresses the identity of the parcel and the purity of the grape variety.

On the nose, Contrée Noire 2018 reveals an elegant bouquet with brioche nuances and notes of yellow fruits, accompanied by toasted and lightly roasted hints. On the palate, it shows harmony and structure, with an enveloping texture supported by well-integrated freshness. The progression is broad and continuous, with a touch of roundness leading into a long and persistent finish, a balanced expression of Pinot Noir grown on limestone soils.
