The Champagne Rosé de Meunier by Mathilde Savoye is a rosé d’assemblage made exclusively from 100% Meunier. The grapes come from the villages of Cuchery and Baslieux-sous-Châtillon, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, sourced from vineyards planted in 1966, 1978, and 2004, rooted in clay-limestone soils with marl tendencies. This setting gives the wine an authentic and coherent territorial identity.

The 2022 harvest, carried out with whole clusters, reflects a winemaking approach aimed at preserving delicate extraction and aromatic purity. The result is a rosé that elegantly balances structure and freshness, while the Extra Brut dosage (6 g/l) keeps the wine’s natural energy alive, enhancing its gustatory tension and mineral elegance.

On the palate, Rosé de Meunier reveals a delicate and luminous pale pink hue. The bouquet opens with notes of crisp red fruits, such as raspberry and redcurrant, enriched by floral nuances and subtle citrus accents. The palate is marked by a fine, creamy mousse, a sleek body, and a precise finish, supported by a savory persistence of great finesse.

Mathilde Savoye

Mathilde Savoye is a young winemaker daughter of Champagne winemakers. In 2017, in La Neuville-aux-Larris, municipality of the Vallée de la Marne, she founded her own winery (Savoye Et Filles) in her name, which she manages personally. Mathilde mainly cultivates Meunier, the favorite vine of the area (58.6% of the total vines) which is well suited to the weather conditions of the Vallée de la Marne, where oceanic and continental influences collide, resulting in winter frosts, abundant spring rains and cool summers.

The terroir, with a marly tendency, is characterized by silt, clay and sands that condition the character of the softer and fresher Champagne, especially suitable for balancing the cuvées. Little appreciated in the past, Meunier is experiencing a recovery in recent years and many producers, including Mathilde, choose to vinify it on their own to bring out its potential.

Enterprising and determined, Mathilde Savoye is dedicated to production practices that lead her to clash with traditional practices and break away from the family Domaine, opting for more sustainable choices such as the return to plowing and the abandonment of herbicides.
