The Champagne B-D-B LĂ©onard by Marie Copinet tells the deep vocation of Chardonnay in the CĂ´te de SĂ©zanne, among the old vines that surround the village of Villenauxe-la-Grande, in a terroir able to combine mineral finesse and solar energy with natural ease. A true Blanc de Blancs conceived as a tribute to the purity and luminosity of the variety, it safeguards the memory of long-lived vines and conveys with elegance the depth and vibrant freshness of one of the most gifted areas of Champagne.
This edition, Vintage 2016, arises from a vinification carried out entirely in stainless steel tanks, a precise, non-invasive choice designed to preserve the clarity, the tension and the aromatic purity of the fruit. After tirage comes a long ageing on its own lees extended for over 7 years, capable of lending depth and complexity, while the final dosage of 3 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, defines its balance and heightens its natural mineral vibrancy.
On tasting, B-D-B LĂ©onard 2016 appears with a luminous straw yellow shot through with golden reflections and a fresh aromatic profile that opens on minty notes, fresh cream and almond, before revealing on aeration a more complex and intense weave of plum, exotic fruit and delicate hints of toastiness. On the palate the attack is lively and enveloping, sustained by a dense, direct structure that leads to a fresh, mineral finish of great persistence, confirming a frank and vibrant style.
