Les Reines Magnum
The Champagne Les Reines by Julien Prélat represents one of the most refined and radiant expressions of Chardonnay from the Côte des Bar, a region that in recent years has gained prominence within Champagne for its genuine identity and the artisanal dedication of its vignerons.
This 2019 vintage edition comes from a single vineyard near Celles-sur-Ource, planted in 2007 and rooted in a Kimmeridgian clay-limestone terroir rich in marine fossils, which imparts to the Chardonnay its energy, tension, and mineral finesse. The vinification, carried out partly in fût de chêne, adds depth and aromatic complexity while preserving the purity of the variety. After tirage, the wine is aged on the lees for at least 36 months, achieving balance and harmony. With no final dosage, this Brut Nature embodies the Domaine’s essential philosophy, aimed at enhancing the truth of the fruit and the salinity of the soil.
On tasting, Les Reines reveals a brilliant golden hue and a fine, persistent perlage that herald elegance and tension. The bouquet is intense and refined, built around notes of pear, fresh apple, candied citron, and white flowers, interwoven with hints of light honey, delicate spices, and subtle balsamic nuances. The palate is supple and dynamic, driven by vibrant freshness and a precisely etched, chalky minerality that lends both lift and precision. The structure is balanced and harmonious, unfolding into a long, pure, and saline finish of remarkable expressive coherence. A Blanc de Blancs Champagne of refined energy and depth, combining finesse, tension, and a strong sense of place, a true reflection of Julien Prélat’s sensitive and meticulous craftsmanship.
Limited production for only 1,200 bottles, 50 magnums, and 15 jeroboams.
