The Champagne La Plante by Jules Barat is dedicated to Pinot Blanc, a Cépage Oublié among the rarest of the appellation, a historic variety that once populated Champagne's vineyards and that today survives in only a handful of plots. We are in Bragelogne-Beauvoir, in the Côte des Bar, where the clay-limestone soils of the Vallée de la Sarce express a more southern and generous side of Champagne, interpreted with a sincere, artisanal vision that puts the authentic expression of place first.

This first edition, from the 2023 harvest base, comes from Pinot Blanc grapes grown in the family vineyards, with vinification and fermentation in stainless steel tanks, full malolactic fermentation, minimal use of sulphites between harvest and ageing, and no filtration, fining or cold stabilisation, choices that respect the purity of the fruit. After tirage comes 23 months of ageing on the lees, while the final dosage of 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves a dry, precise and taut profile.

On tasting, La Plante shows a fine and delicate perlage accompanying a bouquet of fresh pear, citrus and white flowers, enriched by a subtle note of brioche that adds softness and depth to the whole. On the palate it is slender and flowing, supported by a decisive freshness and an energetic chalky texture that leads to a clean, saline and persistent finish, in which the finesse of Pinot Blanc emerges with great precision and measured elegance.
