The Champagne Largillier Blanc de Noirs by Coessens originates in Ville-sur-Arce, in the Côte des Bar, as a parcel-driven expression built from the two plots Fruit and Fleur, both located within the Largillier monopole, a historic vineyard owned by the Coessens family. An identity-defining site where Pinot Noir finds one of its most authentic expressions in the Aube.

Here, the vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils rich in Kimmeridgian marl, a key element in shaping wines with a strong territorial character. Jérôme Coessens’ vision is based on precision viticulture and an artisanal approach that favors a direct, unmediated reading of the terroir, avoiding any stylistic overlay.

This 2021 vintage is vinified in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation carried out, and undergoes approximately 48 months of ageing on the lees after bottling. The zero dosage, in Brut Nature style, defines a taut, essential profile, designed to highlight the natural structure of the grape variety and the mineral backbone of the soil.

On tasting, Largillier Blanc de Noirs 2021 opens with notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, ripe citrus, and subtle hints of sweet spices, followed by chalky and saline nuances that precisely reflect the vineyard’s origin. On the palate, the texture is broad and deep, supported by well-integrated freshness and a solid, coherent structure. The finish is long and layered, with a measured balance between textural density, tension, and expressive precision.
