Les Champs Saint Martin 2013
The Champagne Les Champs Saint Martin by Hugues Godmé is a pure Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs, made from a single 1.09-hectare plot located in Verzenay, a Grand Cru in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Planted in 1986, this lieu-dit lies on soils of red clay over craie blanche with a north-eastern exposure, an ideal condition to preserve freshness and tension in the fruit.
This edition, Vintage 2013, follows in its winemaking a craft-driven approach that respects the raw material, with fermentation and ageing carried out in fût de chêne, without fining or filtration, to enhance the identity of the terroir and the purity of the variety. The long ageing on the lees for over 9 years and the absence of final dosage (Brut Nature) contribute to an essential, precise and uncompromising reading of Pinot Noir.
On the palate, Les Champs Saint Martin 2013 stands out for a deep and vibrant profile, led by ripe red fruits, spicy hints and toasty nuances. The palate is bold, run through by a chalky minerality and a fine yet incisive structure, which unfolds with elegance and remarkable persistence.
