Champagne François Secondé
Les Petites Vignes
The Champagne Les Petites Vignes by François Secondé is a rare single-parcel Grand Cru born in Puisieulx, one of the most secluded villages of Champagne, stretching over less than eighteen hectares of vineyard. The name echoes the same-named parcel, where light soils and a chalky subsoil come together in a south-east exposure that brings light and ripeness. A philosophy of extreme selection celebrates the identity of a confidential terroir, expressing sharp finesse and mineral depth in a cuvée of rare territorial purity.
This edition, based on the 2020 harvest enriched by a réserve perpétuelle in solera started in 2009, brings together in equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from the Les Petites Vignes parcel (lieu-dit), with vines over fifty years old. Vinification and maturation take place partly in fût de chêne, with full malolactic fermentation. After tirage follows ageing on the lees for at least 24 months. The final dosage of 6 g/l, in Brut style, brings balance and measure.
On tasting, Les Petites Vignes shows a luminous golden hue crossed by a fine and regular perlage that draws a creamy and enveloping mousse. The nose unveils ripe yellow fruit, candied citrus, dried flowers and delicate toasted accents, sustained by a chalky breath. On the palate the attack is taut and vibrant, with a dense weave and a compact structure animated by a savoury acidity. The finish, deep and chiselled, extends the mineral sensation into a persistence of rare elegance.
