Coteaux Champenois Carré Frères
RO23 2023
The Coteaux Champenois Rosé RO23 from Domaine Carré Frères is made from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from the Lieu-Dit Les Menues, located in Trépail, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. This parcel, planted in 1995, faithfully expresses the chalky and luminous nature of the terroir, revealing the most refined and vibrant identity of Pinot Noir in its still wine form.
This first edition, from the 2023 harvest, was vinified without maceration to preserve the clarity and delicate hue typical of Trépail’s Pinot Noir. Maturation took place 80% in 300-liter oak barrels (fûts) and 20% in glass demijohns (dame-jeanne), which allow for gentle, neutral micro-oxygenation. The wine rested for about 11 months, then continued its evolution in the cellar for another 10 months, before being bottled on July 31, 2024, in an extremely limited production of only 429 bottles.
On the palate, Rosé RO23 displays a precise and subtle aromatic profile, with nuances of pomegranate, orange peel, wild strawberries, and dried flowers. It stands out for its tactile finesse, mineral tension, and a saline persistence that reflects the chalky origins of the vineyard. The balance between energy and grace makes it a Coteaux Champenois of rare elegance, combining verticality and harmony in a register of absolute purity.
