The Champagne Les Barres 2020 by Chartogne-Taillet is an extraordinary expression of pure Meunier, originating from a single parcel (Lieu-Dit) in Merfy, at the heart of the Montagne de Reims. This vineyard, cultivated on its own roots in sandy-calcareous soils, sinks its roots over 1.80 meters deep, expressing an intense connection with the terroir. The philosophy of the Domaine, based on respect for nature, soil, and origins, is faithfully reflected at every stage, from non-interventionist agricultural practices to artisan vinification.

The vinification is carried out exclusively in fût de chêne for nine months, preserving the fruit’s purity, while maturation continues in bottle for a minimum of 30 months. The low dosage, at 2.5 g/l, places Les Barres 2020 in the Extra Brut category, emphasizing the essential, precise, and natural approach desired by Alexandre Chartogne, who aims to enhance the authenticity of the grape variety and the soil.

On tasting, Les Barres 2020 reveals an intense and profound personality. The olfactory bouquet opens with elegant notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, candied citrus, and dried flowers, enriched by nuances of sweet spices and slight smokytouches. On the palate, it appears vibrant, with a saline texture, an extremely fine perlage, and a long and complex finish, marked by mineral and citrusy echoes. A Blanc de Noirs of rare tension and authenticity, capable of sublimely embodying the soul of its Lieu-Dit.
