Champagne Chartogne-Taillet
Orizeaux
The Champagne Orizeaux 2020 by Chartogne-Taillet originates from a single Lieu-Dit located in the village of Merfy, named Les Orizeaux. This 100% Pinot Noir comes from vines rooted in sandy soil, characterized by Thanetian limestone with medium porosity, deep layers reaching 2 meters, and the presence of Campanian chalk. A geological profile that imparts structure, depth, and a distinctive mineral imprint to the wine.
Vinification and fermentation take place in 228-liter fûts, following a philosophy of minimal intervention and maximum respect for the identity of the terroir. This is followed by over 36 months of aging on the lees, with a final Extra Brut dosage of 2 g/l, designed to highlight the vitality of the grape variety and the expressive purity of the soil.
On tasting, Orizeaux 2020 reveals a precise and austere bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, dried herbs, chalky accents, and a subtle mineral streak. On the palate, it is intense and finely sculpted, supported by a vibrant acidity and a saline finish that faithfully echoes the geological origins of the vineyard.
