Vertus Experience Magnum
The Champagne Vertus Experience by André Jacquart tells of the southern face of the Côte des Blancs, where the chalk lies deeper and mixes with clay veins that give Chardonnay a broad and sunny profile, less sharp than in the northern villages yet just as precise in its outline. The name recalls a reading of the land, that of a Premier Cru seeking breadth and substance without giving up the mineral stride that belongs to Vertus.
This edition, with a 2022 harvest base completed by vin de réserve from the 2020 and 2021 years, involves vinification and maturation in barrique and, after tirage, comes an ageing on the lees of around 24 months, completed at dégorgement with a final dosage of 4 g/l, in Extra Brut style, that keeps the wine dry and defined.
On tasting, Vertus Experience shows a bright golden hue crossed by a fine and persistent perlage, with an aromatic profile weaving ripe citrus, pear, white flowers and a note of toasted hazelnut left by the ageing in wood. On the palate the structure is full and enveloping, supported by a clear acidity that keeps its drive and definition, in a savoury finish of long persistence with a chalky, mineral echo.
